IMP DIOCLETIANVS P F AVG, laureate head right / SALVIS AVGG ET CAESS FEL KART, Carthage standing left with fruits in both hands; I in left field; A in ex. RIC VI Carthage 33a. I cannot see any letters in exergue, but I do believe I see the I in the left field. dougsmit Pillar of the Community United States 1549 Posts	Posted 09/13/2012 07:48 am Yes the coin may be common and this one suffers the loss of the best part of the reverse legend where the city is named (KART) but I consider the type most worthwhile because it is a rare example of a type coin issued by one mint rather than just following the crowd. Other mints were cranking out yet another matching Genius type but Carthage followed a different drummer and even named the city in the encircling legend rather than just in the mintmark. Seriously, consider how much more interesting these coins would be if London had used a British type and Alexandria an Egyptian one. We could say Carthage did just another standing figure but at least it was a different one. Report this Post to the Staff
