Got this little surprise in the mail a few days ago, much to my amusement.

Sorry about the photos, apple makes a good phone but their cameras leave a lot to be desired. Had to hold a dying flashlight in one hand while trying to hold my phone steady with my thumb poised in the air waiting to capture the elusive state of relative focus. I swear, why does that stupid camera even have a flash? It just makes my coin pics darker.
I am a little hazy on the chain of events that led to this coin arriving in my mailbox (beer may have been involved) but I am happy to see it. I haven't spent much money over the last month, so it (most likely) was less than $50 - making it a great bargain compared to this one currently on vcoins for $104.28.

Mine is missing the mintmark, but the inscription reveals it to be from Arles, RIC VIII 42 - R2 if I remember right. The only thing I knew about this one when I started attributing it was that the diademed busts on these posthumous issues are kind of hard to come by and tend to be a little pricey.
There is only one RIC type for this issue from Arles, but most don't have the diadem. So I guess I just need to score a more boring Arles version before I can check that mint off the list.
All said and done, I got drunk, went coin shopping and ended up in the black. Score one for the good guys. Anyone else here have any pleasant surprise coins turn up in the mail?

Are you kidding me? ...

Ummm Bro, were we separated at birth!!?

=> every single Saturday morning I get up, run downstairs and check my Friday night's PayPal activity!!

... well amazingly, last night I was a very good boy and I actually left the local bar when my lovely wife indicated that it was probably time to leave (NOTE => on most Friday nights, this signal from my wife is often missed and/or ignored, which ultimately leads to surprise-coins in the mail, nasty hang-overs and the remainder of the weekend sucking-up to my lovely wife!!) ...

Geee? ... apparently you can teach an old dog a new trick!!

I tend to avoid spending large amounts of money when drinking, so I am pretty comfortable that it was a screaming deal. It never occured to me to check paypal though, hmmm. Then again, the surprise would be gone. This isn't my first surprise coin, but it is the first one that made me want to skip home from the mailbox whistling a happy tune. That seems much better than the alternative Walk of Shame to the laptop to see what horrors I have inflicted upon my bank account. Holy crap it would be so much worse if someone else in the world cared at all about my spending, I think you are wise to let your wife win the occassional round. He who fights and runs away...and all of that. Cheers!

Oh, and I hope that once you find a mate, you end-up having a great "equal-spend" relationship where you can all enjoy the fruits o' life!!

Yup, I think me and my first future ex will probably have very little cash in the bank, but a lot of hard to liquidate, but valuable, cool stuff lol.

Found out how much I spent! I payed 54 CHF, which I must have assumed was Canadian money, turns out it is converted Swiss Francs. But, turns out 54 CHF equals $50.04, right on the money (so to speak) of what my prediction was of what drunk Justin did to sober Justin's finances. Still a good deal. I guess the bible is right, God looks out for drunkards.

Actually, I just did an audit of my last two months of coin purchases using paypal, vcoins and ebay and that one only cost me $20.78. The one I paid for in francs is just a scarce version from Trier with a letter missing from the inscription. Not sure I should have paid that much but I suppose it about evens out.
