but it seems like the binder is made of your usual everyday binder material...and may contain pvc?

if so....are the coins ok if in mylar flips, IN an archival quality non pvc sheet that holds the flips, IN a binder that may contain pvc?

or am I worrying about this to much?

I am not familiar with those folders.
A rule of thumb for PVC is if the plastic is soft and pliable there is a good chance it contains PVC.
I think correct and safe storage of our collections is vital and it is an issue to "worry" about.
I am even going to try using non pvc saflips and heat seal them instead of using the cardboard 2x2's I am currently using.
No cardboard (sulfur risk) no glue no staples (risk of scratching) and no air, they have to be a better proposition {in theory) than standard 2x2's.
The only down side I can see is there is nowhere to write on these.

Well being a chemist and all... for what ever that is worth...I became horribly consumed by the threat of PVC and the formation of Hydrochloric Acid and the effect of sulfide byproducts on coins so this I think is the absolute safest way to store the beloved coins...

A duel pocket flip with one pocket dedicated to the coin and the other dedicated to the acid free paper in which you include your attribution... There is very little information on the constituents of the ink used in pens....but I would bet that the risk of some ink coming in contact (once dry) is minute. So in my honest opinion this is the absolute best way to store your coins...outside of an NGC slab but for the Ancients guys I wouldn't want to go there.

So....Behold...

that is exactly what I am looking at
ICCS used to have these clear plastic and sealed flips.
They are a 2.5x2.5 sealed with a sealed 2x2 inside them.
If all slabs came in this style I would not have to break them out just to fit them in my albums

ooooooooooooooo....that's nice AN!

ok, I dig those flips...but the question is THEN what do you put them in?

trout, I saw your cool binder set up and that's what I was going for.

so AN and trout, if the coins are in flips, then mounted in pvc free sheets of 20, THEN in a binder that MAY contain pvc...what is the probablity of coin damage?

I would imagine the chance of PVC damage would be minuscule

Sel had a look at my binders and sheets and was highly impressed with the quality, So I am absolutely confident that my coins are now safe

That is perfect AN
The coins are safely stored and easily seen.
The attribution is written on the card in the other side of the flip and not in contact with the coin at all.
PERFECT
