What is being used to describe this twenty-five cent variety nowadays? Also, does anyone know what the market value would be in Good? It's not certified. Thanks for any light that can be shed on this.  |

 Nice coin and highly underrated! Still not recognized by the Coin World, however this sleeper will have it's day! I contacted I.C.C.S. the other day and asked if they would "recognize" the 1880, Narrow 0, A/V Variety. I was advised, not at this time, too early and not enough known to make a statement with. I've seen the 1872, quarter A/V sell for $1K-$5K depending on the grade. I'm constantly looking for 'em from unsuspecting sellers. Sooner or later I'll have one, patience is a virtue! Glenn  |

Thanks for the welcome Glenzy. I've actually been a member for a while - I just don't post much. Here's another 1872-H with some die weirdness that I picked up from ebay. These 1872-H's are quirky and fun to look for.  Edited by justanothercoinaddict

I have a CCCS AG3 with the comment 'Bar V in VICTORIA' but I see it more frequently referred to as A/V or inverted A.

Value? Great coin to sell,not so great to buy once it has been attributed.I've bought three on ebay in the last five years,the most I paid was $42 for an F12.So many 1872s remain unsearched,the population of those found is sure to double over the next ten years.Caveat Emptor! "Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

I'm not familiar with these. Can someone explain what makes it A/V? Is it that some coins have a regular V and some of the V's look like A's? In Victoria I'm guessing? Are these only on 1872 quarters?
