85 miles away myself. I had no idea so many people here were from Wisconsin, that's pretty cool. I wonder how they calculate sales tax on the silver coin used purchases.

Obviously this restaurant owner would be best off, if paid in wartime nickels.
Now, what WERE the prices of similar meals during WW2?
Perhaps a comparison can be made.

Quote: We've joked that a gas station could get lots of publicity selling gas for 25 cents per gallon as long as you pay with silver quarters Not a joke, its been done. I have seen it pictured elsewhere as well. http://www.blog.providentmetals.com...-payment.htm

Whoever thought of this concept should receive the "Nobel peace prize"! Well,maybe not but what a heck of an idea! First of all, he gets the public's attention with a catchy gimmick. In which gives the customer a HUGE discount. and second,he rewards himself with probably a far more better profit in the long run. WoW! I'm surprised that this doesn't catch on.Very,very COOL! I commend the man or lady.

@52Raymo
When I first read the post for some reason I read it as being published in Jan 2013 when silve was around $30 and thought the price board shown would be out of date. Since I reread it as June 28th I think the prices should still be valid. I am going to call them next week to see if the can fax me a current "exchange rate" menu.

I just got off the phone with them and the current barter rate / prices are the same as in the article. Hope to make it up there this weekend or one night next week.

The only drawback is letting your old silver coins go bye-bye.

Very nice story. It doesn't mention condition so take your melt.
