Not a rare date or anything but should do well at ICCS next time I send a batch.

That would be nice in my mom's birthyear set. Mine's a little shabby.

Did you see it in person?
I was thinking about bidding on it if it went cheap, but they didn't really say anything about it that made me think it was more than a 63. Personally, I think you overpaid. But please let us know the results :)

Where did you find this coin.... one poster suggested you seeing it in person as well as over paying for it.... was this on an auction down by the bay or another similar auction house?

I don't usually broadcast where I get coins but it wasn't e-bay....I paid 160 bucks hammer and if it slabs well it should trend at around 3 times that. Whether I overpaid or not will be down to ICCS opinion but I am simply adding another quality piece to my collection.

I know that the above pic is kind of small for us to really grade it properly. It certainly looks like an MS 63 with my old tired eyes and therefore a steal at $160. IMHO
I was buying 'at those prices'.. in the 80's. I think that you got a super deal,...or is the whole coin collecting market collapsing..?

I was recently looking over some Cdn coin papers a few weeks ago... and it looked to me like some items were really in the same ball park from the 80's ..... e.g. a 1948 silver dollar was going for just over 1K then.
I was also watching the latest TCNC auction and seemed that almost all coins were going for 50% - 70% of cataloge value.
Personally I think the coin is a BEAUT! It would make a nice addition to any collection .... congrats on your new aquisition..

Thanks for the positive comments. The high grade stuff on sale over here in the UK and the low grade rarer dates seem to be selling at high prices. I have quite a few colonial coins (10) with ICCS right now, so I bought the coin I could afford in the highest grade I could....all the best, marbury

Coin in hand, better scans now. I'm happy with it and this one will go to PCGS as another $100 for shipping back from ICCS is hard to stomach after my 1900 NFLD 20c result...ouch!

I would snip out the NFLD piece and submit it to PCGS as well...
