This is an offshoot of the how much to spend on supplies thread, but while reading thru it , I had a thought!! ok so I almost had a thought ! but has anyone ever heard of an online coin club?

where perhaps we could pool resources to purchase large quanities of coin storage devises airtites, or another accepted type, this would save everyone dollars and add another aspect to forum life.

I know that through the RC club, even though it is different in that we see each other once in a while, we purchase fuel and balsa packs and such in bulk and save quite a bit of money doing this.

Just wondering if anyone else thinks this might be a viable Idea?

I have seen online buying clubs on various projects, and you are right, there is an option for saving money. However, people are people, and by that, not all are exactly honest. Sending someone my hard earned money for a venture based solely on an online personality would be a stretch for me. Of course, I am not always the most trusting individual to begin with. I think that this business made me that way :-)

Now with that said, there are a few supply houses that cater only to dealers, and therefor the prices are naturally lower. If those interested talked Susan into supplying the program, she could in turn save everyone a few more cents. In an earlier thread I made mention of buying 2x2's for very cheap prices. If memory serves it is something like 5000 for $75. Most shops charge $4.00 for 100.

I don't see this as a bad idea at all. I also don't have a problem with being the one to make the purchases. Because I also have the option of selling them outright to non-members, the risk factor is nil. I would like to see more members involved, though. Let's see what happens as far as membership growth.
