I know this is a long shot but is anyone in Hong Kong? I'll be there for about 12 days at the beginning of September. 2 or 3 days at the coin show at the Holiday Inn Kowloon and a week or 10 days of absolutely nothing to do except wander around the human gridlock slurping noodles out of a box.

I'd be delighted to meet any coin folks living there.

Im also seeking suggestions on some of the fun things to do. I want to do a tour of the bay, see the peak, etc..

Now here's an idea.

"First International CoinCommunity Convention HongKong 2010"

A coin dealer told me he use to attend a coin show in Hong Kong every year and always did quite well. He never came back with any coins. Instead he would buy as much ivory as he could and even with the import fees would make a killing back in the states. Of course that all changed when it became illegal to import it anymore. I really want to go to coin shows in other countries.

I too haven't been to Hong Kong since the changeover. Somehow I know it wouldn't be the same.

I had dinner at the Cafe Cordon Blu in the New World Trade Center that I thought was great. I also enjoyed a buffet that was in a revolving restaurant overlooking Hong Kong harbor.

I like collecting Hong Kong coins of the Royalty period (pre changeover). Nowdays they are kind of unique to own. It's a past era that will never be seen again.
