Hi. I have a coin I inherited a long time ago. Decided it's time to sell. How do I go about selling? 1889 $3. PF 60 ANACS authenticated.

One indication of value: http://www.numismedia.com/cgi-bin/c...de2=pricesms

There are many others.

Heritage Auctions has pretty good records too: http://coins.ha.com/c/search-result...+231+393+573 but you will need to create a free account to see the prices realized.

Now, will a dealer pay you 6,880 or whatever it's 'worth' - no way. He has to make a living and if he sells it for that FMV (Fair Market Value), then he needs to pay you enough less to make his living.

Very nice! I think I can speak for the forum when I say..PLEASE POST SOME PICTURES!! Now is it straight graded PF60? Or is it PF60 details, with a problem noted? That will make a big difference in the price. I would love to buy such a coin, but my bank account does not currently agree.

It's a $5000-6500 coin wholesale. You might be able to maximize your profit margin by consigning it to an auction house, where a coin like this will be seen by collectors that are actively searching for lower graded proof gold coins, someone like Heritage, Great Collections, Stacks/Bowers, Goldberg, would be my opinion. Granted there will be sellers fees of around 15-20% taken off, but by getting the coin in front of the right buyers is the name of the game, ebay just won't cut it for proof gold coins IMO. Time will be longer to sell as well if you can wait it out. Another option would be to contact one of the big proof gold dealers. Doug Winters, Don Kagin come to mind right of the top of my head.
