SHAFTA9a, to be a VF20 the wheat ears have to have all the lines visible, both ears are worn, it may make F12 but that is all.

F12 - DDO right? That date is pretty thick. Looks like a weak strike too IMO. |

All I know is, when I started collecting in the early 70's, this was a VG (Half of wheat ears visible). Today? Heck, for all I know they might grade this XF-AU!

Acid exposed? Man, I really need to work on my photography. The surfaces are certainly original, though there are very very light areas of beginning stages of verdigris. For those of you who caught it, yes; this is a DDO1(the big one for this year). I would probably not have bothered photographing the coin for grading purposes otherwise...;-) There is a pretty large range of grades, I think I would go F-15 on it....remember as a DD, it can cause the details to be a bit mushier than normal.
