O, I probably already can gues but...

This is at a local gold/silver shop. I didn't buy but took a photo to check it out.
Searching here, it seems to have all the warning signs. but, no harm in checking....

It looks a bit "funny" although I can't put my finger on just why, and these photos aren't enough for me to say definitively if it's good or bad, especially as there's not a shot of the edge. I'd certainly want to know its weight. I'd also be interested in how much the gold/silver shop was asking for it.

Weight was .. 26.9 (I think), on their scale..... Asking $22. That is their default price for all 1oz looking pieces.. Silver eagles, rounds, Morgans, Peace..

Weight's a tiny bit light, but if their scale's accuracy is just to a tenth of a gram, it may well be very close to spec. Bottom lining this, if it's real and in that condition, it's a stone cold steal at $22. If it's a contemporary counterfeit, it's still a steal. If it's a modern replica, $22 will not likely be your most expensive lesson in life.

OK, interesting.. What is contemporary counterfeit?...
Older, different metal?

All comments I have heard about weight, this is pretty good.
MY concern is the horizontal die line. Heard thats a big sign of counterfeit
thanks

buy it, grab a silver test, and do a test. (scratch On the already worn edge of course, you don't want to ruin coin details)

Your instinct was on point. Modern replica with artificial patina.
