coindude411 New Member United States 44 Posts	Posted 08/30/2007 8:27 pm I will try to get a picture up but for now what I have is a 20 cent fractional currency note from june 1862. On the front it says city of charlestown S.C. 20 cents. And on the back it just says Twenty. Does anybody know how rare this is? Bilbo Pillar of the Community United States 812 Posts	Posted 09/24/2007 11:10 pm I'm no expert with regards to currency, but I think your note is more properly categorized as 'obsolete currency.' My understanding is that the term 'fractional currency' is typically used for federal notes, not state issues. The North began printing its fractional currency around 1862, and it continued long after the Civil War ended. If you are trying to research your note, I'm pretty sure you need to be looking under 'Obsolete,' not 'Fractional.' Report this Post to the Staff
