Over the past few months I have developed an interest in trying to find a true raw PO-01 coin. Let me just say that this is much harder than one would think. I would like to see others PO-01 coins. Any denomination raw or graded. Post your pics!

Connor - I'm enjoying the discussion on your possible PO01 Peace dollar ...

I am a fan of circulated coins across four series and have PCGS PO01 examples from each series - seventeen (17) certified PO01 in total.

The following two are amongst my favorites ... primarily because of the challenges associated with proving their authenticity.

1893 Columbian Half Dollar - PCGS PO01

We spent a few pages in the CCF commemorative forum discussing whether or not the final remnant of the date was a '2' or a '3'. Not being able to determine that would have rendered the coin unverifiable.

Thrilled that PCGS was able to find enough diagnostic to identify as an 1893 dated example.

1918-S Walking Liberty half dollar - PCGS PO01

Much like your 1924 Peace dollar ... the date can barely be made out if you turn this coin in just the proper angle to the light.

This is the 'rarest' PO01 in my set. It is the only Walker at this time to earn a PCGS PO01 grade ... and as such is Population 1 in the entire series.

There is an entire CCF thread somewhere dedicated to this coin.

Enjoy

David

Keep in mind, a P01 needs to grade righteously. Details coins don't count any more than they do in any other grade.

I wonder if the ability to find them is due to what happens to coins in that shape. Probably most get melted or just thrown away.

Just picked up this 1904 Panamanian 5 centesimos in a junkbox. In hand you can read 04 on the obverse with a loupe.

The 1861 S half and the 1877 CC quarter are likely candidates for PO-1 IMO.

Can we post non-US coins too?
If yes, here is 50 Dinar of kingdom of Yugoslavia, 1938. Don't know if it's PO-01, but it the most worn silver coin in my collection (this one was inherited btw.)

Your coin has some history.
