 Can you give us clearer pictures? If you are taking them on your phone, crop the background out and try to post them the right way up if possible. Can you give us the diameter in mm and also post photos of the edge please? |

normally the weight is from about 8.2 to 8.7 gr , but this weight may be possible .With better pictures , we can say more.albert

There are a couple of coins on wildwinds in the 7.9 range and you have a couple of chips out of yours which might make up the difference. I am assuming that you can't see a seam around the edge. I am no expert, but the details on your coin do seem to be somewhat soft.
Not sure what you mean by the silvering coming away around the edge? Does it appear to be plated?

Yes, no sign of a seam but possible signs of plating coming off to reveal a base metal core. This is evident around the edge as well as under Athena's chin where someone has scratched with a sharp implement. The details seem reasonably sharp to me. Luckily I know who this was bought from and can go back for a refund if needs be.

This type of coin was struck at several different mints but even though the weight seems to be consistent at over 8 grams. The least that I'll come across was for one the was very worn and that was 8.10 grams. I think the weight of your coin is way off, also the appearance IMO seems off. The details appear soft and not well defined and the color of the metal if silver looks like it may have a high level of lead or maybe silver plated over lead. While I can't be 100% sure from your pictures I fell this coin is a reproduction.

i agree with ski on this one, the appearance is just a bit off. I hope we're wrong, but I doubt it.

The flat surfaces on both sides have rather serious pitting, and the reverse has lots of tiny pits most noticeable about the wings of Pegasus. All of this has blackened. Couple this with the soft details of the items in relief, and I suspect the coin as a cast copy. If it indeed has been plated, then it is at best a silver plated cast copy in base metal of some kind. Examples I have seen in full silver do not have these characteristics.
