CoinWeek - For many collectors, the idea of a separate grading system for early copper coins can seem daunting and unfamiliar. CoinWeek met up with Bill Eckberg, EAC President and co-author of the EAC's Grading Guide for Early American Copper Coins, to find out what considerations a coin has to have to meet the criteria for EAC's Mint State Grades.
Bill does a great job explaining EAC grading, which can be confusing even for EAC members. He also makes a point that's worth repeating - EAC MS coins must have absolutely zero wear, but TPG's will slab coins with tiny amounts of rub or wear as MS, when EAC limits them to AU grades.
