Instant MHD collection, with just a few holes remaining to fill. Very nice!

I would have bought it just for those two at that price.

I know. I was just adding to the previous comment. It was a good deal as-is, but if it had those two in it I would not have thought twice because I need them.

Nice buy! I think $2.30ish per dime for pre-1933 mercs is great! Looks to be at least a few VGs and Fines in the mix too.

Last year I started collecting pre-1933 mercs, I bought a bunch G grade at a pawn shop for around a $1 more than you spent per dime. I'm aiming for higher grades on future purchases now.

What are your collecting goals with the mercs?

I'm assembling a dansco with no particular grade in mind. But I will always look for upgrades if the price is right.

If I wasn't a cheap skate by blood I would have definitely bought it in a heartbeat. Great find!

I looked at numismedia and it shows that most of the coin in the lowest grade can fetch around $4 each. Is this correct?

Good deal ... yes

Better deal if you need the dates for your collection.

When I think about buying a group of coins like this,
I try to find the bottom price I might pay.

For example 90% junk silver sells about 14 to 15 times
face. So the bottom for these might be around $30.

But you got all different dates and a couple might have
some better value. To me the 1919 might be a nice coin.

I guess I am saying .. Sounds like a very good deal for you.
