canadian_coins Pillar of the Community United States 2408 Posts	Posted 05/13/2016 7:51 pm I would have to agree that this coin ranks among the top coins ever produced by the RCM in terms of craftsmanship and quality. Everything works; from the different shades, the water and the animal dynamics. The contrast on the reverse is absolutely stunning. I cannot find fault with anything except perhaps that the font could have been like the $200 for $200 (2014) i.e. a bit thinner. Also, the top legend should have been "CANADA" only and "100 DOLLARS 2016" at the bottom. That would have prevented the date to overlap the forest while there is plenty of room to accommodate the date on the bottom. The RCM took a big risk in having the larger orca with a shiny finish right in the middle of the coin. Any small scratch or defect would show up immediately. However my coin was pristine. The obverse however is all frosted but that effectively covers up some slight defects. The Queen's frost is slightly coarser than the surface which creates a nice contrast.
