I went around town today looking for any 2016 coins, no luck none. But I was in one bank and the teller was looking for me and a lady walked up to the next teller and handed her a plastic bag ($25) of cents, right away I jumped over and asked the lady if I could buy them from her before she gave them up. Well she said she had another bag, I'll go get it. So before she got the money from the teller I got them. Now for non Canadians once the Cents are in the tellers hands and payed for they can not hand them back out, they must be shipped off for melting. Some people are getting them but they are not suppose to. Back to the story, the second bag was a bit short of $25 so I asked if she had counted it, and no. I said $25 in one and about $20 in the other, she said give me $30, are you sure I said , OK Stopped at another bank and got 6 nickel dollars 2 of them a 68 & 69 in MS, then another bank and got some .50 pieces but I can't get them till tomorrow, the teller that has them was not in, so they are on hold till then. I have never had this much luck, the 2016 will come soon I hope.

I did not know that about the pennies... makes me that much happier about the $80.00 worth of them I just "rescued" from my b.i.l. Going to try and put together a full collection for each of my son's once I have gone through all the rolls.

That is excellent. Didn't know that about the Canadian requirement. Thanks.

I think I know which bags you're talking about. Haven't gotten one in a while but I've weighed them in the past with a luggage scale and depending how full they are the variance can be significant. Even with the fill line it's difficult to figure out how much is really in there. Good luck with the finds. The great thing about bags is the regular size limits for rolls don't apply so you can find all kinds of stuff.

Quote: I think I know which bags you're talking about Yes it's the bags some of the banks handed out and yes they can be under or over the line on the bag.

Update on the .50 pieces, Yesterday I went back to the bank that had the .50 found the teller that had them, she said how many do you want, I asked to see them she pulled out an envelope that looked like it had a lot in it, as she handed it to me she said 'they are all the same' well I found 1968-8 , 69-4 , 70-1 72-2, 74-1 ,75-2, 75-4, 79-7 picked out the better ones, high AU to mid MS and this teller has been their for for awhile.

Good score! Last month there was gentleman in front of me at the bank to deposit a bag of 50 cents pieces and a bag of dimes. That took a while.
