Not sure where its shorted from the source or the dump location. Not sure if I am dumping to quickly in the machine or what but this is my last bag. I called the CU where I purchased the bags and they say their machines are accurate and I called up the CU where my dump is at and they say their machines are also. Not going to raise a stink about it because I have a real good thing with my half dumps. This hurts!! And the last 3 bags I have only found 9 silver dimes. OUCH I guess its part of the game. Losses in the last 2 months $10.00 $12.00 20.00

I don't know if you have heard recently but TD bank and now PNC bank closed their coin counting machines down for this exact problem. The coins weren't coming up with the correct amount. News reporters were putting in 300$ worth of coins I believe and getting random amounts back. This might be what is happening to you. I do not know where you are from but this is all going down in NJ for myself at the moment.

I bought 2 bags of nickels and both had dimes and cents. When I rolled them for deposit I was down several dollars for each bag. I suspect I'm down around $20 or about 5%. I shrug it off due to the finds I grabbed but the bottom line is that I shouldn't be down at all (with replacement).
I suspect we aren't imagining things. The state of calibration and frequency for having it done come to mind. It's hard to complain given what tellers and managers do for us but it's frustrating for sure. Bank boxes provide accuracy. CWRs can be up or down a few nickels. Bags seem to be the biggest chance of getting shorted.

$42.00 for 9 silver dimes? You would be better off just buying from a dealers junk bin.

It all comes down to the love of the hobby. It has to be love, and as much as I loved volume searching dimes, the miscounts became a cruel mistress.
When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors... Roll hunting since '77 Dirt fishing since '72

THANK you for not raising a fuss at the bank!
Reposting again...people that complain about bags from the bank are the reason I can no longer get bags from the bank.
People don't complain if it's full of silver, but they'll complain if the count's off!
If you want verified amounts of coin, get them in boxes from the supplier. If you want higher risk and higher reward, get CWRs or bags off the machine. You may find more, but it may not be accurate.
If you get burned, stop getting the bags.
Every bank I've tried will no longer sell bags because someone raised a big fit about the bag being off. I've even told them I take full responsibility for the amount in the bag and will not bring it back and complain, and they still will not. Now no one has access to those bags.
I've seen all sorts of things end up in bags that were counted as coins, the machine isn't perfect. People are dumb and don't treat the machines well, and problems happen.
