Please help grade this Trade dollar. I was going to guess maybe AU58, but was not sure whether it would grade problem-free. The photos below were taken by a friend when he owned the coin. I can take more photos if needed. Fields are semi-PL.

What are your guys' thoughts? Thank you!

I'm not 100% sure this one is genuine. You'll need to weight it. The 4 in 420 is missing the bar, below it the T in TRADE has a creator in the middle looking like a casting mark. Liberty's right leg detail does not match the example below.

Compare all the details of your coin with this PCGS photo and check the surface for any raised bumps that are not part of the design.

If it turns out to be genuine the coin would most likely grade AU-58 dteails, cleaned and surface scratches

AU details & harshly cleaned. No call on authenticity from photos.

In the photo the denticles around the date appear different than the rest and not full. If the denticles appear the same in hand, it would give me concern about the coin's authenticity.

Tough call from these images. The spots may be the sign of a past dip and I can't really tell if the numerous lines are die polish lines or tell tale signs of a wipe. There are a couple lines that obviously travel over the DE in TRADE. I would vote details based on what I see.

Thank you for all of the comments - just as a suspected, AU details. Authenticity never crossed my mind!

I was wondering if maybe the spots were caused by corrosion, then acetone was used to remove it, however the corrosion had eaten into the coins surface...?

Thanks again!

I'll say AU-55. Most of the parallel lines don't seem to extend into devices which suggests die polishing not a cleaning. Not sure on authenticity but nothing screams fake - it's very nicely struck which is rare for a fake.

Following up on the notion of authenticity... I do believe the coin is authentic, and also that it has been cleaned. Wish I could say it was just die polishing lines!

Thank you very much for all of the great opinions presented.
