recent pick up. In a very scratched NGC holder. all light colored scratches are on the holder. what would you grade this? other thoughts?   Edited by Steele 09/21/2016 10:14 pm

A conservative purist would say VF+ and it does look like a choice very fine to me too (VF35). That said NGC might well have it in an XF40 holder.

I'm in line with the crowd at VF-30-35. On a generous day, a TPG may have given it a 40.

I'd call it XF 40. I just got an 1835 Quarter that NGC called VF35 and your coin has more detail than mine.
