Roger Chappell New Member United States 46 Posts	Posted 11/24/2016 9:24 pm I have a series of coins that are have gouges and other mistakes on them.I'm pretty sure that the errors were made after striking...but the first one is interesting... I never seen columns that were bent or detached on a penny before. Sending images. Report this Post to the Staff

When you find a coin that looks odd, think "How could this have happened naturally in the minting process?" If you can come up with a plausible answer, then it might be an error worth exploring further. If not, back into the change bin it goes. Report this Post to the Staff

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 11/25/2016 08:57 am If the coin is out of round, that is the first clue it might be PSD. If you see an indent one side and a pushed out bulge on the other, it is damage from an inpact one side and pushes outward on the other side. Your coins shows examples of damaged and probably done intentionally, during circulation. They are not a mint error. Just damaged after it was struck PSD Report this Post to the Staff
