It's something! It's a cent! I see die chips in the 9, S, and second 5 of the date. I just checked Copper Coins for you, and the only doubled dies listed for 1955 S involve doubling of Lincoln's eyelids.

No extra value, many coins have the die chips ,dies breaks. Now if there's any doubling of the letters/devices or mint mark, there is values and markets for sales.

Welcome to the hobby, animaljunky! I do kid around a bit, and it was pointed out that newer members might not know that yet. I just wanted to make it clear: I was kidding with you, not laughing at you! Here's a bit of background info to get you started: http://coppercoins.com/advsearch.php This is the website I use to check for varieties on cents. Just input the year, mint, and either leave it unchecked for all errors (doubled dies, repunched mint marks, etc) or click off one specific error type. The wikipedia article is a great beginning resource for error coins. It'll help you decipher a lot of the terminology getting thrown around here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mint-made_errorsIf you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask!
