It's a stainless steel 1960 Turkish two-and-a-half lire. These coins were issued until 1980 when high inflation dramatically reduced the value of the Turkish lire. According to my Krause catalogue, the 1960 coin has a mintage of 4,015,000 and is worth 25 US cents in VF. It's the sort of coin that's fairly plentiful in dealers' junk boxes in the UK, as a fair number were brought back by British tourists in the 1970s.
