1988 D Nickel...fs? Grade? - Coin Community Forum

TNG Bedrock of the Community United States 10284 Posts	Posted 09/22/2017 9:31 pm It may be an ( grade guess removed - but better than XF ) coin but in my opinion, not 5 full steps. Technically not even 4 steps. As others will say, cuts and interruptions put it out of the game, let alone it not being unc. Nicky rim, wear on pillars and bag marks. 5 steps is considered full steps. 6 full steps get the 6 mentioned. "Close but no cigar" From the practice of giving cigars as prizes at carnivals in the US in the 19th century; this phrase would be said to those who failed to win a prize.
