Hello Guys,

I have this Netherland 1863 2 1/2 Gulden Willem III coin.
i got this coin from Sumatera Island Indonesiaabout 20 years ago
i wonder if this a genuine Netherland 1863 coin or just a counterfeit? and how much is the value of such coin nowadays?

Looks like silver wash over copper, thus making it counterfeit. Has the appearance of a contemporary rather than modern counterfeit, but that is sometimes the case with even newer replicas from this region..

Thank you very much for the insight, I really appreciate it,
and I also got information from a local historian,
basically during the late 1800s, the dutch east indies government, minted and distributed these "copper-silver" coin for the "inlander" of east indies.
and
i think i'll send it to one of the museum in north sumatra. : )

I just noticed that this is a rare and expensive date. With that knowledge in hand I feel this is a more recent replica.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I doubt this coin has any history besides whatever Chinese heritage it carries. This is an forgery of a key date (many of these around), nothing more.
