I know that the 79S Proofs have the filled and clear varieties but did the mint-mark anomaly carry over to the business strikes? Is there any value for both varieties? I ask because I have one of each.

The Type-1 S(filled S) was used for all business strikes

Thanks for the response! I guess some are just more "filled" than others.

The "filled" versus "unfilled" description for the 1979-S proof coins (all the US Mint 1979 proof coins from 1979 have the two varieties of mint marks) can be a little misleading. As afernbaugh has discovered there are different amounts of "filled".

The following link will take you to a good description of the two mintmark varieties. It discusses how both varieties have different amounts of "filled" portions of the mintmark.
