I assume that this is Roman, Caeser maybe? I got it with some coins my Grandfather gave me when I was young. Tried numerous times to find it, just never did.
Hoping that it is worth more than 25 cents

I tried to lighten it up a bit.

Thanks all.

It's from before the Romans: Ptolemaic Egypt, sometime between 300 and 100 BC. Exactly which ruler is difficult to say, because they were all named "Ptolemy".

What's the diameter?

Its pretty amazing when you think about all the hands that the coin has passed through in 2000 years, and it's still in tact.

Sap/Victor,

Thanks for your input, I'm just amazed it lasted this long and that the features are still visible..for the most part.

Tenacious,
Thanks for the link, I believe I have it pinned down to this:
Ptolemy Coin GAE353
Ptolemy II Philadelphos - Alexandria - TriHemiobol - 285/246BC
AE 27.4-28.0mm : 17.792gm : 12h
OBV - Laureate Zeus facing right
REV - Eagle standing on thunderbolt facing left, wing open, OMICRON monogram between legs, SIGMA over SHIELD in left field. BASILEOS right, PTOLEMAIOY left
REF - Svoronos 586

Its an exact match.
Thanks again,
Bill
