I received for Christmas an awesome gift that was a huge shocker. My parents sent me a little box via USPS a few days before Christmas. I thought cologne, aftershave, cuff links something of the like. To my amazement on Christams morning it was a Pcgs VF-30 1800 bust dollar!! I could not believe my eyes, and still can't really. This magnificent piece is in a Pcgs holder and is toned blue, gold, and magneta on the obverse and is toned in the same colors about the periphery on the reverse. My digi camera is broken, but if I can find some means I will post a pic. I hope that this is the prelude to a fantastic 2006. Best wishes to all in the upcoming year.

Well tell your parents I COULD be adopted at any time!!! Outstanding gift to receive and very thoughtful of your parents to recognize your desire to collect coins and to then drop such a rarity in your lap! Great job on your parents part! They are definitely "keepers" as well as the coin!

Wow, that is an awesome gift! I think that's one good thing about slabbed coins, regardless of how one feels about them, that is, that the average person can go and purchase a rare coin in a holder from one of the big 3 or 4 grading services and be assured of authenticity and value. Just think, if your parents had purchased a raw Bust Dollar for you, how very possible it would be that it could be faked, altered, etc.

Thanks for the replies. Yes they are truely awesome people. I am so fortunate. Thankful not only for the great gift, but for the holiday together as well. I am very happy that the piece was purchased slabbed this, is great piece of mind. My family has some knowledge about coins, as there are several of my cousins and other relation that collect.

Now that's a Christmas present!! No one buys me coins because they're never sure what I need, so I get cash instead. Not that I'm complaining, I'd *never* say no to cash...

Love the Bust Half, Becky. The Trade dollar is nice also, but I'm very partial to the Bust coinage.
