Hello All,
I do not make it on to this site often, but it never ceases to amaze me when I do. I am a regular on a number of the sites and hunt about 16 parks on a regular basis myself. Unless you hit a spill or an armored car the trash to coins ratio mostly doesn't favor the coins. With the exception of the guys who go out to strictly coin shoot an area. Anyway I get on here and there are guys knocking down 300+ coins in a day and it's rather shocking. The ground also seems to treat the coins a lot better in their part(s) of the country. It really discolors them here Or eats them (zinc). Then on top of a 150-300+ coin day they might manage a ring or necklace. Must be some prime hunting ground. I have hunted everywhere from New Jersey to Miami to Portland, OR and never had that kind of luck so it must be pure skill and not location. You guys who push those kinds of numbers really should hit every single competition hunt that you can find. If I am just 'on fire' recovering finds I can about 4 out of the dirt in a minute if all goes right, but you guys (by my count) can maintain that pace for hours on end. I am lucky if I hit a string of coins like that 3 times in a day. Some days it just never happens. Anyway good luck and happy hunting.

In mulch I can easily average 4 coins a minute. I have a 12 inch coil for my ACE250 I spend a couple of minutes setting it up for the particular ground conditions I am working in. I know exactly where the sweet spot is for various types of coins. and it does change by as much as an inch between each type. The two to five seconds extra I spend on pinpointing in most cases allows me just to flip the coin out with a screwdriver. Gold nickels and foil all register in the same area on the meter but each has a distinctive tone and boy do I get excited when I hear that gold tone.

Hey Doug, it would be nice to see some of your finds. Always like to see what others are finding. Right now I am learning a new machine so I haven't had the amounts I usually have. But it will come. With my other machine I just know it really well. I'm with Richard it doesn't take long to get a coin out of the ground. Eventually I will get to know the new one just as well.

I think location has some to do with it. There are a lot of places and people around here. When I go to schools or parks I try to search it from one side to another. Not just the main spots. I even search the parking areas. Usually takes a few trips to hit it all, but I find stuff in all spots of the property. I actually find more out and away than in the hot spots most of the time.
