Hi everyone,
I found this nickel over the weekend, and did a bit of searching on the site. It appears, according to this post - http://goccf.com/t/287586

that I might have a Progressive Indirect Design Transfer/ghosting error. I feel like it is pretty strong and pronounced at 10 o'clock to the left of the Monticello dome (Jefferson's chin), and from the wording Monticello/Five Cents (sides of Jefferson's head).

Thanks for looking.

What does the obverse look like? No indented marks?

The reverse is the only side I've seen affected with this. But here is an obverse overlay:

Hi Coop,
Here is the Obverse. It appears there is a bulge to the left of Jefferson's chin. Nothing appears to be an indent on either side.

But making a new overlay for the year/mint mark showed me something else was at hand. It is not PIDT, it is from plain over polishing and die wear that you see those areas affected. I saw the same thing on the images I down loaded.

Your coin was an even later die state, thus the mushy fields and affected areas.

Thanks Coop! I learn so much every day. I'll just put this with the other 54S nickels I have. I appreciate your knowledge and insight!
