Hi everyone. I just opened up the Q & A Section for James' visit. Please read the posting instructions before posting a question or comment. Each question should be posted to a new thread. This will make it much easier for James to answer. Multiple questions posted in the same thread will be deleted. Sorry, but this is the way that James and I agreed it would be done. If you are going to be here the night of James' visit, please wait to post any questions or comments until then if possible. Thank you. http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/...?FORUM_ID=68

It would have been awesome, but I'll be at the Prescott, AZ VA hospital all day (drat! ). I broke the ice and asked the first question in the question thread. I hope it's in the proper or expected format for the forum; if not, I'll be happy to revise it. Meantime, I will post at least one more question, then get back to work trying to make some $$ for the first time in eight months. Fred

I figured that I would ask mine today at the FUN show. I do hope that "we" don't scare the man away on his first visit. Maybe we can talk him into being more than just an answer man. His general knowledge would be a very welcome addition to this forum.

I don't think we'll scare him away unless we ask coin-specific questions such as "Why did ANACS give my 1884CC only an MS-64 instead of an MS-65?" or otherwise deluge him with trivial complaints. I am presuming he's coming to the forum with an open mind since he seems to be that type of person and will not object to a few off the wall questions as long as we realize that he does not represent ALL grading companies and we don't abuse him with complaints about TPGs in general and the philosophy behind them. For many of us, he will be the first representative of ANY TPG with whom we have had direct contact, so some of our questions might seem simplistic or the possible answers self-evident. Related to the same, I've posted another question into the Q&A section. I don't want to be the only one asking questions in that section, but I won't be here that day and evening (at least during the first couple hours; I MIGHT be able to join in after I return if he's still online). What I think I'm suggesting is that others post questions so a general flavor of the questioning might be established beforehand. Susan can weed out or respond to questions which might be superfluous or irrelevant. For example, other questions/subjects of which I would like Mr. Taylor's opinion: (1) Clarification on why ANACS dropped Net Grades on problem coins; (2) His opinion of the proposed 100-point grading system; (3) How does ANACS propose to increase its market share among the top four TPGs?. Possibly/probably more to come... Fred

This is a good suggestion Fred as I think James will feel more comfortable if he has an idea of the types of questions being asked and can give them some thought prior to responding on the 11th.

Fred, I have spoken to James 5 or 6 times on the phone and hear from him by e-mail on a fairly regular basis. I have been sending him links to ANAC's related stories and threads from various forums for about 4 months now. He is very down to earth and welcomes the chance to get the facts out and stop rumors. I hope he visits on a regular basis as well. Susan has welcomed him to do so. Thanks for the excellent questions, Mike

I don't see a problem with specific questions. I would like to see him join as a regular member more than just an answer guy. Mr. Taylor is a very well versed person in our hobby, and can shed quite a lot of insight if made to feel like a normal guy. I guess my point is, that we should try and make it friendly versus feeling like a job interview.

I'm really hoping there will be more questions prior to James' visit. I think he will feel much more comfortable if he has a little time to get a feel for what people want to know. Please don't be shy about posting in that section.

Hi Folks! This section is open to all members even if you plan on being here for James visit! Susan was trying to let those who could not be here have a shot at getting their questions up first. I'm sure there are many questions that we can present to James. Please ask your questions ASAP so we can give James an idea of what he may be fielding and can come prepared! Thanks, Mike
