I was wondering how this would grade? I found it in a roll the other day. The RedBook does'nt give a grading guide for Kennedys and I have'nt got that far in this hobby yet to attempt it myself.
amac44- I may be wrong, but it looks too worn on the banner above the eagle and on the shield on the reverse to be AU. And toning is not necessarily bad at all. It is just that some types of dark toning just give the coin a rather harsh look to them.
The coin has an abundance of luster so it has to be at least AU. There is some wear in the hair and on the shield so I would call it AU50. There appears to be some strike weakness(most noticeable on EPU) but that will not effect the grade. On this coin, the grade is really irrelevant since it will only be worth its silver content unless it was a nice MS coin and almost 250 million were minted so it is very common but it is still 40% silver
