So far we are split on the thread proposal.

Meanwhile, I am proposing a new scoring system.

Option 1:
Five closest guesses get 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 point(s) respectively. Everyone else will get zero.

Option 2:
Closest will get 10 points, next closest in each direction (higher and lower) will get 5 points, and each other recipient will get 1 point.

Comments?
Rest in Peace

I never got a win yet was in the top ten.

I vote option # 2

If we can not use the old system, I guess I prefer option 2, but what do you do with ties?

There will be no ties.

The guesses are first come, first served. Anyone copying a previous guess will only get the one point for participation.

I wanted to change the scoring system to make it cleaner and give more advantage to the actual winner. However, I will do this democratically and will await more input before making the change.

I'm for a new thread. I like option #1, but depending on the total number of contestants you may have to go with 8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1.

Now in the event of a tie using the 5,4,3,2,1 system, if there is a tie for second place, why not take 2nd & 3rd place points 4+3=7 and divide by 2 and give each 3.5 points.

Half points? Now that is getting crazy!

I want to stand firm on "no ties" for two reasons. First, it makes people pay attention to what has already been guessed. Second, it prevents a person from sabotaging another player by guaranteeing that the sabateur gets the same points as the target in any given round.

If we go new thread and end this one, does that mean I win? :P

I am cool with either way. I am a lean towards a new thread since you are changing the scoring system.

New thread or not, you won the original contest. So, going into the next one, new thread or not, you are the defending champion!
Rest in Peace

I'll vote for Option Two, no ties, keep it simple, etc.
