Hi! So I read somewhere that all d mint mark coins should be saved & was wondering if there is any vailidity to that statement. Sorry if I posted this question in the wrong place but I'm a newbie so please bear with me. Thank u in advance, u guys are the best! #10084; Michele

 Don't know why or where you heard that but I see no reason to save them. Just to many of them to worry about. |

I can not think of any reason a person would want to keep every D (denver) mint mark coin they come across. I would imagine the article you are thinking about may have meant a specific D mint mark coin or specific error coin instead of all D mint mark coins.

There are some D mint coins that are a must for me, but that's not across the board. Welcome

Yes, they should all be saved. For example, in a money market account at 2.45%, or a CD at 3.25%. Otherwise unless you really know what you're doing there's no point in keeping giant piles of common coins laying around for years. There are many billions of D mint coins in circulation and a lot of misleading "strike it rich" videos etc out there.

On the other hand, if you find any coins with mintmark of S (except pennies), CC, C, O, or W those should be saved.

Maybe we are thinking of the wrong D here. Maybe the OP is talking about Dahlonega, in which case, yes I would save all of those coins.

I can't remember where I read that but there is a chance that I might stumble upon it again by revisiting sites Ive previously used. (None of them can hold a candle to this 1 though) Thanks for the info & the welcome msgs. It's really terrific how you guys are so willing to help & teach others about the wonderful world of coin collecting!
