pretty rough scudsy coin but it is an R-5 coin. Lots of detail remain amidst the corrosion. CQR says scudsy ag-3 is $250 Did I overpay for this one at $86?

If you bought the coin to keep it, then no, you didn't overpay. A coin that is rare, will be hard to find another at $86. Even though that is a homely coin, to put it mildly, there is probably not a cheaper way to get one.
considering the amount of detail on the reverse, I would say nice purchase.
