I'm sure no one viewing this post has any idea what you're asking or even talking about.

To CCF! What?! Please elaborate on your coins, because I have absolutely no idea at all what you're trying to say.

I'd guess they have a Lucite toilet seat that has cents embedded in it.

@dd, first welcome to CCF. Second, this decision depends on how many cents there are and the purchase price--please provide these details. In the absence of something special (e.g. mint error or MS grade), many of these coins are likely only worth face value.

Absolutely worth nothing as far as I would be concerned. Not worth the time of effort to mess with.

Check ebay sold prices for uncirculated 1973-d cents. The only way you would get $4 for one is if it is graded and slabbed and gets a grade of MS-65 or so. Since it costs way more that $4 to get a coin graded, you'll lose money. Raw BU 1973-D's go for maybe a buck, minus your shipping and e-bay and paypal fees, there's no point in it. And there's no telling if you could even get the coins out of the lucite without damaging them.

@DD, thanks for providing the additional info. I suspect that @dave42 is right--this isn't going to be much of a money-making endeavor.
With that said, if you do decide to harvest the coins from the lucite, can you please post a few pics of the process along with your best results? I think that your journey would make for a neat thread for us to watch.

It is very hard to get coins out of lucite. You will have shards of plastic everywhere, may cut yourself, and most of the coins will go flying onto a hard surface.
