@CG, if you rotate your top image 90 degrees CW, I'm pretty sure it reads Allah Akbar Jalla. This is a square Ruppee of the Mughal Line in India. Your bottom image is upside down and has the date I believe. I know that this just gets you started, but I'm out of my league on these.

Spence is correct. On Mughal-era coins the correct orientation is with the lines across curving up at either side.

This is an Akbar Ilahi rupee similar to

The regnal year appears to be Ilahi 3X (second digit off flan). Perhaps someone can read the month, or you can match it with a list of Persian month names.
