This penny has 4 raised circles above his head appears to be as old as the coin. could this be an error or do you think someone damaged it along time ago?

Appears to be damage... any thing on the reverse of the coin in that area, maybe flattening

Nothing on the reverse other than some glue or something near the c in cent, but I will start adding both in my future messages Thanks.

I thought it might be a failed attempt at drilling to but I wouldn't think drilling would raise the metal but I could be wrong. Here is the reverse.
