coindexter Pillar of the Community United States 869 Posts	Posted 10/14/2008 12:13 am I will post another picture of it. It is actually a vary thin layer missing. A stain would not have a edge around the missing piece and with paint in would be raised and I would be able to scrape it off. The one picture shows the peal starting or stopping at Lincoln's cheek. biokemist6 Bedrock of the Community United States 12437 Posts	Posted 10/14/2008 11:28 am IMO, the surface of the area in question just looks too smooth for a lamination and the border has smooth curves- a lamination should have a jagged or linear border and a rough area underneath. The outline has more of a liquid appearance and I see other spots next to the mint mark and following the rim up to 3 o'clock. There appears to be some greenish residue in these areas, perhaps something was on the coin and then later removed. Report this Post to the Staff
