This 1989-P quarter has some interesting errors. Washington's head is flawed and there are some letters visible on the front and back of the coin. The letters are "RDOLL" but mirrored.

I'm new to coin collecting, so I'm looking for help. It's a very interesting coin, but that doesn't mean it's valuable.

I'd appreciate any feedback you can provide. Thanks!

Note the areas you are looking at are incuse lines. 99% of the time, incuse marks on a coin usually denotes coin contact. Only about 1% of the time is is a mint error. Your coin is showing damage to the coin. It looks like coin damage and image transfer from another coin was added to it during it time in circulation. Not a plus for the coin. It is just PSD. (Post-Strike-Damage) How can I tell the added devices to your coin were not part of the striking process? Because they are mirrored and incuse on the coin. It looks like someone was trying to make it look like the coin was double struck. But if that were the case, the devices would be raised (not incuse) and would be read non mirrored. This indicates that there were squeezed on to your coin with a couple of other coins that were quarters. The coin is spendable.

I try to show what I see on a coin, rather than just give a yes or no answer. Sure a yes or no answer, gives the answer. But helping everyone to see what I'm seeing, helps file away the information by seeing and learning at the same time.
