I am using EDGAR MARCUS & CO. 3 and 4 pocket pages for my small currency collection. Everything fits neatly in a two inch binder. Are there any chemicals in these, like PVC, that might cause long-term problems? Is PVC a concern for currency like it can be for coins?

Thank you!

Yes, PVC should be avoided for currency also.

I'm unsure about the specific brand you mention.

If you visit the Brent-Kreuger coin site, they have a 'Test for PVC' in the how-to section. They use characteristics such as how it tears, and how it behaves when melted.

The "burn and tear" tests suggested on the site are out of the question as I only bought enough pages to house what I already had.

Nothing extraordinary in the collection, just 4 stars , a radar and some low serial numbers in US and an assortment of foreign notes that would have gone into the trash if I hadn't taken them.

Thanks for replying!
