Regardless of the PCGS opinion, that is a lovely coin.

I've seen many CC dollars in PL & DMPL. This 1883 is a very nice coin. It looks to be PL or DMPL. Need to actually have this coin in hand to determine. But from the photos, I give it MS65 PL.

the 83(CC) have average to bold strikes. this one I would put in the average strike category due to the flatness around the hair and breast. luster, eye appeal and surface preservation is a little better on reverse. some minor surface scratches on the neck area and the carbon spot on the reverse is noted.

i think the obverse will hold it to MS64
i dont see anything pointing to PL qualities based on the photos

Very nice coin. I can't see this one below MS-65, might even make 66 using these photos.

I would say it is MS66. Part of me wants to put MS65 because I know they're usually lower than what I think but this to me is a very very nice looking Morgan. MS66.

I'm at an MS-64 on this one. The dark spot on the reverse and the few scattered marks on the obverse are holding it back for me.

MS65 for me. The coin has a lot going for it - great surfaces and luster - and I think it squeaks into gem, but the obverse strike is a little weak above the ear.

Cheek will keep it out of MS-66 but I think it makes 65.
