What Deviltry Was Done To This 2017 P Maryland Quarter?

Coinstrike Valued Member United States 100 Posts	Posted 09/17/2020 8:59 pm I took my grand daughter out today and got some change so she could ride a kiddie car outside the PX while we waited on her grandmother. I looked down and saw an error coin, a major error. I've always wanted one of those, so I put it in my pocket and spent the other coins I had. When I got home, I looked at the quarter in go light and what I thought was an error was PMD. I have to say, it appears someone deliberately defaced the coin, I don't know why. Perhaps he was trying to make a presentation piece of some kind. Maybe he was trying to make it look like a valuable error. Either way, I thought I'd post the coin here for comments.
