AU details. the swiping hairlines, most notable on the obverse, looks to me to be from whizzing or a cleaning with a light abrasive. this coin is so overpriced I can't even comment on it. to be in the range this coin needs to be in the MS65 area and its not even close. $45 tops

Quote:You know this is the key date/mm in the Peace dollar series, right? SEMI-Key. IMO, there are only three "key dates": 1921, 1928, and 1934-S. Semi-keys would include: 1927-D, 1927-S, 1928-S, 1934, 1934-D, and 1935-S.

AU details for me as well, and I've got to add not just details but harshly cleaned on the obverse as well.

The coin is conditionally rare, but I'm not certain I would consider it a "key date" myself. If you were building an AU+ set it definitely would be, but you can find run of the mill 34-s Peace dollars in G/VG for little more than a common date Peace dollar. This coin is similar to the 1884-S Dollar which is readily available in anything under XF, but once you hit AU and above prices skyrocket. To me, a key date would be a coin that carries significant premium no matter the grade, for this series I would consider that to be the 1921 and 1928 dollars. As for the grade, I'm not convinced it's cleaned, I had a 1928 Peace dollar in PCGS AU-55 and in it's harshest light had a very similar look to this one. I'd call it AU-55 and would like to see your pictures before determining details or not. Here's the 28 I'm talking about
