Varietyvista.com website can show you the known DDR's for this, and you could see if yours is a match. Edited by mrwhatisit 07/24/2021 9:33 pm Report this Post to the Staff

mrwhatisit Pillar of the Community United States 3013 Posts	Posted 07/24/2021 10:06 pm Im thinking they must have been struck from the same dies that had that gouge and die doubling until the die would be replaced and normal-struck coins after that. Report this Post to the Staff

I have several half SMS coins. you can tell the difference between Business, SMS, and proof strikes by the way they look. Business strikes are not shiny, but have a dull not so smooth field, the devices are not struck well SMS strikes have a near proof look but not quite proof quality fields, the devices are struck rather well Proof strikes have a mirror look to the fields and the devices are struck very sharp and are sometimes with a CAM or DCAM. here is a 1964 business strike: 1967 SMS: 1973-S Clad Proof: 2021-S Silver Proof: Collecting since 1972.
