I was looking through my wheats and focused on the Lam in liberty first. Then I noticed the slant to the "44" and decided to investigate further. Mint mark lines up really well.

Since there won't be any markers left and the Lam obscures the Liberty, my question is do any 1944 D's that aren't the DDO have the slanted "44"?

Images in overlay are from coppercoins.

Regardless the "slanted 44" which has no interest for me, Your "LAM" attract me. We, in my lab, we conduct an study for war cooper?!?! coins.

This "LAM" (how you say) it is interesting for me by the form and placement.

Congrats,

Nice class VI DDO -- Always good to get the variety with the FS#.

Found about seven of these one time: Figured it must have been a dump of someone's collection.

Sorry, don't know the answer to your question.

edit: by 'slanted' are you referring to the chunk taken out of the right side of the verticals above the crossbar or the base of the vertical?

It's a struggle to attribute the strong 1944-D class 6 DDOs. Wexler lists several similar ones, and probably that date needs an update using a bunch of AU/MS examples to really nail it all down. Just hard to find any of those in MS.

Cent Stations - the chucks out right side above the crossbar. Just wondering if there is a non-DDO with that type of feature or if the DDO causes it.
Thanks everyone for the comments.

It is definitely a feature of the DDO.

Yep, pretty sure it was only on DDOs and if I remember correctly, mostly/only on the 4s with a slanted base [but I could be mis-remembering on that] similar to the illustration.

edit: or maybe the DDO caused the slanted bases and they did not use a second type of 4
