tpthemask592 New Member United States 37 Posts	Posted 01/09/2022 8:12 pm I found hundreds of old coins hidden in an old stairwell in my flip house built in 1900 along with bust dollars from 1801. Just very curious and cant image why someone turned it into a clip on if its a real coin Report this Post to the Staff

For these two, it looks to me like there is a casting seam on the Tet of Alexander (on the right in this latest pic). That would make this one not real. Not sure about the other one though. Sap Moderator Australia 16883 Posts	Posted 01/09/2022 9:26 pm Both are replicas of ancient Greek coins, I believe. Which is good news, since doing that to a genuine ancient coin would definitely ruin it. And those are modern clips, not ancient ones. The ancient Greeks didn't have patents. The top one is a copy of an Athenian "owl" tetradrachm. The bottom is a copy of a tetradrachm of Lysimachus, king of Macedonia and Asia after Alexander the Great.
