I know that "D" occurred in 1939, so that one is out. Not sure when the other choices took place. Also trying to avoid Google...

Perhaps the March of Dimes option is correct - I think the anniversary set came out in 1997? Have no idea about Amelia Earhart and I think the peacetime draft was later. I'm going with "A".

Fun quiz commems - it allows us to refresh our memory on these events.

The answer is B - Ameila Earhart disappeared in the same year. The March of Dimes founding missed that year by 4 days. The other events occurred 3 years later.

Yes, the correct answer is "B" - Amelia Earhart's disappearance!

The Battle of Antietam 75th Anniversary half dollar was approved, struck and released in 1937. The coin was sponsored by the Washington County Historical Society of Hagerstown, Maryland. The coins were offered by the Society for $1.65 each.

The same year, 1937, Amelia Earhart, the first female pilot to solo across North America (1928) and the first to make a solo trip across the Atlantic Ocean (1932), disappeared on July 2, 1937 while flying over the Pacific Ocean during a trip around the world with her navigator Fred Noonan.

An exhaustive search for the remains of Earhart and/or Noonan, as well as wreckage from the plane, was conducted in the years that followed, but nothing was found. Over the past few years, some believe the remains of Aerhart and her plane have been found on Nikumaroro (a small, uninhabited island in the Western Pacific; it is part of Kiribati) - the evidence is not definitive/conclusive, however. So, the mystery may continue!

The event years for each of the above:

A. 1938
B. 1937
C. 1940
D. 1939
