Introductory Note: I have posted about many different aspects of the history of US commemorative coins here in the US Commemoratives area of CCF, most with "Commems Collection" in their title to enable automatic inclusion on the "Commems Collection" list created by Bobby. In addition, however, I have also posted about the design elements found on many of the coins over in the "Post Your..." galleries area, as well as within posts here under non-coin-specific titles. I've decided to collect these multiple design discussions for each coin of the series in one place for quick access, I present...

I have had the desire to complete the entire run of Oregon trail halves. Alas there are many key holes that need my attention and $'s before I pass my collection to my offspring.

You could have started a new topic commems - 'Coins with Conestoga Wagons'. I bet you would be the only entry.

@muddler - I had the same interest years ago, acquired 9 of the 14 in PCGS MS66/67 then stopped. Don't believe I'll ever complete the series.

@commems - many thanks for continuing to compile these tremendously informative design discussion indices.

FWIW: Here 's a link to a thread that covers your suggestion - not too many coins presented, but lots of medals. It's an interesting collection!

- Post Your Buckboards, Covered Wagons & Stagecoach Medals Coins Paper Etc

Several other contributors posted their Oregon Trial half dollars, so I refrained. My contribution was a commemorative medal for Missouri:

- 1971 Missouri Statehood Sesquicentennial Medal

Thanks again, commems! In February of 2014 I purchased an Oregon Trail, Texas and Robinson commemorative to start my set. I lived in Texas at the time and my home state is Arkansas, which was the reason for those two. The Oregon Trail design I just found outstanding!
@muddler, be patient in the endeavor as it definitely takes a while! It took me about 7 years to get all the Oregon Trail commemoratives for my set, though since I do have two I want to eventually upgrade I'm not truly finished yet .
